Marlin slow down but there still about!
On Saturday we had Profishent; Keep it Reel; Ziphias; Wet Dream were fishing out of Kiama with Cobra competing in Jess Sams at Ulladulla.
Ziphias had a bit of Banana luck, which is a change for Matt, with a 2;2;0. Trolling live slimies they had a Striped on for a few seconds in 40Fa but failed to get hook set. Later on, trolling out in 70Fa they hooked up a Striped marlin 80kg on a small JB Dingo, new member Lou had the Striped on for 15 min but the marlin spat the lure and they missed out again! (Must have been watching My Way last weekend!!!) Matt said, they saw plenty of flying fish out there but not much bait. The Dollies are on the fad but are on the small size! Slimies are all in close, out to approx 30Fa. Wet Dream had no luck but found Slimies in 20Fa. Profishent pulled lures from Sydney down to Kiama Harbour along 80-100Fa line and had no hits and didn't see much bait at all! Keep it Reel continued there hot run, coming up trumps with an est 85kg Striped marlin tagged n Released to Ryan Lindsay (his first Striped), see photo attached, nice fish congratulations Ryan! Thanks to all skippers who gave me reports on weekend, makes my Bulletin a lot more interesting. Not sure how Cobra went in Jess Sams, heard they dropped one Marlin at the boat on Friday?
Port Stephens News
Got an e-mail from Chris Basha who took a boat up to Port Stephens on weekend and the action was thick n fast up there! On Saturday they were 5;5;3 with 2 Striped Marlin and 1 Black Tagged n Released. On Sunday they were 6;6;3 with 2 Striped marlin and 1 Blue Marlin Tagged and Released, all fish were caught on 24kg line. Thanks Chris. Looking good for Karizma in the Interclub.
Harvey Bay Queensland
My mate Ron Woods (we won the Harvey Bay light tackle a few years back on his Black Watch), was out fishing with his son Tommy and he caught his first Blue Marlin 115kg on a JB Chopper lure, congratulations Tommy. Told you JB lures were great!! Choppers a favourite of mine to! See photo's of young Tommy's Blue attached.
